From Drab to Durable: Transforming Wilmington Patios With Slip-Resistant Concrete Coatings

Old, cracked, and chipping concrete around the exterior of your home does more than make a once-lovely property look drab and unkempt; it’s also a slip hazard. With Wilmington’s freeze/thaw cycles over winter and hot, humid summers, your patio and your pool deck can really take a beating. Over time, this can affect your home’s curb appeal and your desire to enjoy your outdoor spaces the way you’d like. This is not what homeowners want, given that the backyard patio was a big draw when they bought their home.

A Fast and Easy Solution for Drab and Dated Patios

There’s a way around a smirched, slippery patio situation that quickly transforms it into a smooth, stunning surface that everyone will gravitate toward, and that’s with a custom concrete polyurea coating.

Patio floor coatings from Penntek can be applied, cured, and ready for use in 24 hours, instantly elevating your property’s appearance and your desire to spend time on the deck.

At Anderson Painting, our teams are certified Penntek Industrial Coatings installers with years of experience transforming grimy, stained, and chipped concrete floors into bright, flawless surfaces that are resilient, slip-resistant, and last for decades.

Why Do Penntek Patio Coatings Last Longer Than Other Coatings?

Penntek concrete floor coatings are a three-part system made with a durable, flexible polyurea basecoat that chemically bonds to prepared concrete.

For patios and pool decks (especially those with stamped patterns), we ensure the surface is perfectly uniform before we apply the basecoat for maximum chemical bonding. We do this by grinding the surface with diamond grinders, then profiling it with a fast-curing Mender that fills in all dips and cracks. When this layer cures, we grind it off as well to create a 100% smooth surface that a pure polyurea basecoat will bond to.

The second of the three-part system is where our clients’ color and design preferences come into play. You can customize your coating by choosing from a vast array of decorative vinyl chip blends so your patio’s surface harmonizes perfectly with your property’s exteriors.

A final non-porous, UV-resistant, and slip-resistant polyaspartic topcoat is then applied, creating a stunning outcome that won’t scratch under outdoor planters and furnishings and will stand up to years of foot traffic.

Surfaces are antimicrobial, antibacterial, and extremely easy to maintain. You can sweep it, hose it down, whatever’s easiest, and it will always look like new.

Slip-resistant concrete coatings by Penntek are uniquely durable because they’re made to flex with Wilmington’s weather, resisting cracking, peeling, pitting, and fading. This is also what makes polyurea a better choice than epoxy, which provides a mechanical bond instead of a chemical one.

Whether you live in Wilmington, Ogden / Porters Neck, Surf City, Topsail Beach, or anywhere within our coastal region, if you’ve got a deteriorating concrete patio, we have a solution you’ll love. In fact, most people wonder why they didn’t upgrade their patio and/or pool deck with the Penntek system sooner. Penntek even has a system for garage floor coatings and basement coatings.
