Paint Color Forecast for 2018

calander Oct 17 , 2017 user-iconAnderson Painting

Every Fall around this time of year, the authorities in the painting industry: Sherwin Williams, Benjamin Moore, PPG, (and now, for the first time) Behr, announce their upcoming “Color of the Year” selections. As an interior and exterior painting company, we’re always curious to see what colors these companies will come up with, and if any of our customers will actually choose to put those colors on their walls, trim, or ceilings!

Over time, these “Color of the Year” reveals have become increasingly popular, and not just within the designer and contractor world, but to the average consumer as well! Today’s consumer is interested in ALL trends; from clothing to home decor, to shoes and furniture, and now, paint color! If it’s “trending”, people are following. Case in point: People magazine just did two separate features on both Sherwin Williams’ and Behr’s 2018 Color of the Year (read here & here)! Add in Forbes magazine’s write up on PPG’s pick, and Architectural Digest’s highlight on Benjamin Moore’s selection, and we’d say paint color has officially entered into pop culture! So let’s take a look at what the (paint) color forecast is looking like for next year. Here’s what’s trending now:

Sherwin William’s Pick: Oceanside, SW 6496

PPG’s Pick: Black Flame, PPG 1043-7

Benjamin Moore’s Pick: Caliente AF-290

Behr’s Pick: In The Moment T18-15

So what do you think? Wouldn’t you agree, that with the exception of PPG’s calming “In The Moment”, the rest of the colors, “Ocean Side”, “Caliente”, and “Black Flame” are really rich, bold choices?! Can you picture any of these colors on the interior or exterior of your home? Maybe a new front door or shutter color?
